1. Introduction

VAT Calc IE ("we", "us", "our") provides a free online VAT calculator for Ireland at vatcalc.ie (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the Service and how it is handled.

2. Information We Collect

The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Amounts you enter and rates you select are used only to perform the calculation on your device and are never transmitted to, or stored on, our servers — we don't operate a backend or database for this tool. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information such as your name, email address, or payment details.

3. Cookies and Local Storage

We use your browser's local storage to remember your cookie choice (accepted or rejected), so the notice doesn't reappear on every visit. This is considered strictly necessary and doesn't require separate consent. If you click "Accept" on the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics (see below), which sets its own cookies to distinguish visitors. If you click "Reject" or don't respond, Google Analytics is never loaded and no analytics cookies are set.

4. Third-Party Services

With your consent (see above), we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Service, such as which pages are viewed and general usage patterns. Google Analytics may set cookies and collect information such as your IP address (which Google may anonymize or truncate), browser and device type, and pages visited. This data is processed by Google in accordance with their own Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites using Google's Browser Add-on, or simply by clicking "Reject" on our cookie banner.

5. Legal Basis for Processing

Where we process any personal data (currently, this only occurs via Google Analytics), our legal basis under GDPR is your consent — given by clicking "Accept" on the cookie banner. You may withdraw that consent at any time by clicking "Reject" on a future visit, or by clearing your browser's local storage and cookies for this site, after which Google Analytics will no longer load.

6. Data Retention

We do not retain any personal data ourselves, since the Service has no backend or database. Your cookie consent choice is stored only in your own browser's local storage until you clear it or withdraw consent. Data collected by Google Analytics (if you consent) is retained by Google according to their own retention settings, which you can review in Google's Privacy Policy.

7. Data Security

Because calculations happen locally in your browser and are not transmitted to us, there is no server-side data of yours for us to secure or lose. Standard hosting-level security practices (such as HTTPS) are used to protect the delivery of the site itself.

The Service is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Under GDPR, where we process your personal data (via Google Analytics, with your consent), you have the right to:

Since we hold no personal data ourselves and only Google Analytics processes any (with your consent), the simplest way to exercise most of these rights is to click "Reject" or withdraw consent, and to use Google's own opt-out tools. 10. Data Protection Officer
